Music Monday: Moulin Rouge

I love this movie! It has some great music in it. If you haven’t noticed already, I do love musicals. I think music adds something to stories which just can not be achieved by any other medium. Music is passionate and revealing and stirs deep emotion. Moulin Rouge is a love story first and foremost. It is also a story, much like Phantom of the Opera, about obsession and how one persons obsession can tear apart something beautiful. Freedom, Beauty, Truth, and Love are the ideals a young penny-less writer, Christian (Lewis MacGregor) , sets out to discover and record in words. He comes to the Moulin Rouge, a night club, where he meets Satine (Nicole Kidman) and they fall in love with each other. This is much to the chagrin of the Duke who desire to have Satine for his own and make her famous and give her all the material possessions she may ever want.

Of course every good love story needs a good love song. I don’t claim to have made or own the following video.
