To the Artists of Before

To the Artists of Before

Sometimes I wish
I could have been there

To hold an artist’s hand.
To whisper that their work
was worth it.
To assure them
their vision was grand.

To inspire the hopeless.
To smile at a lonely face.
Perhaps, with my help, their world
would have been a much better place.

But those before me
are lives I cannot touch.
I just hope they know
that they mean so much.

I quite like the emotional retrospective in this poem; it makes the whole thing easy to relate to.
