I would like to share a philosophy which I have. I often see the universe in terms of balance. When spells don’t work and I feel I have done everything to make them work (including all of the practical things), I often wonder why they have not worked. Doubt about magic and the spell working is sometimes the case but I always believed full heartily.

A long time ago I was wondering this and a thought popped into my head. Well, it is quite selfish to be asking for these things I want to happen to just happen. In fact that has been the only conflict I have ever had with my religion. Sometimes it is not as powerful as you wish it to be and at the same time many spells are about getting something. I then thought perhaps the reason spells don’t work is because we have not given nature and other people enough to GET what we really want. This makes sense. There needs to be a universal balance.

At the same fold I also feel there is more to this universal balance. For instance can the earthly really survive without the divine? Can change exist without stability? Magic has never been earthly in the first place. Energy can do anything in the right hands but at the same time can only affect so much physically.

The physical is about action and change. So what are the right circumstances for magic helping solve or create a situation in the physical plane? One thing that must be done is that the spellcaster has to put their ideas into motion. They must try to achieve their goal with more than magic. Then magic can help remove roadblocks and provide more energy for success.

At the same time we also must accept that what we want might not be what we need. What we need will be given to us and is what is best for us. Wicca is not about what you get from magic but learning that magic is everywhere. It is learning that performing magic can be a chance to give. Magic is about becoming aware of energies around us and learning that we can help change the world on a physical and spiritual level.


Being “Sensitive”

I’m unsure of how you guys may react to this but I consider myself to be a bit “sensitive” in many ways. I am an emotional person who understands others emotions. I am also what you might call a person in tune with higher energies. I believe energy is swirling around us constantly but did you know they come in colors? I do a lot of work with auras and chakras. Chakras are energy centers in the body and are connected with different colors and meanings (see pictures below which are not mine). Auras are energy fields around the body and come in layers and have colors and meanings as well. Often if a chakra is imbalanced or block it will show up in the aura. The aura interacts with your environment and other people. Why do you think hugging is such a great feeling? You are sharing energetic information with another person. I do a lot of work with this and I can see aura colors a bit but only in a dark room or white background. Sometimes my teachers would be talking away right in front of the whiteboard and all of a sudden I would see a cloud of colors around them and be surprised that without getting myself in tune or ready I could see it but it is because of the background they were against. I’m trying to do yoga more often now and I felt like sharing this information for anyone interested. Yoga really helped me open up today to one of my plants, a little rubber tree, I am concerned is going to die soon. It has one little withering leaf left on it. I transplanted it and right after I suddenly felt a large amount of energy flowing through me. I wonder if any faeries were around and decided to try to help the plant through me? I believe in faeries as well. Have I told you yet? Anyway.. I hope you all don’t think I’m incredibly weird after this post but I felt like sharing.

Wire Work

Up in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, there was a lovely craft shop. In it there were the little copper wire trees wrapped around stones. I thought how cool they were and thought of buying one. But I held off wondering if I could make one of my own. I knew I had copper wire stored up in my craft box and I have jewelry making stuff as well. So when I got home, I set to and started playing with the wire I have. I first started by twisting the wire around the quart crystal formation I have and cutting wire strips of similar lengths to the wire sticking straight up from the crystal. Then I wrapped each of the strips ends around the wire on the crystal and twisted them together to form a tree trunk. I didn’t use enough strips and the trunk looked more like a stem so I decided to make it into a flower by bending the wire ends into petals. I worked of wrapping wire around a piece of from what I can tell in chalk. It is pendant shaped already so I thought it would look good.



Spirituality Behind Crystals and Metal

Crystals and metal have many magical and healing properties. I have always been fascinated by crystals and metal. I used to collect rocks when I was a kid on nature walks, wash them off, and put them in a metal tin.

I furthered my knowledge on the subject when I got the book (pictured below) The Essential Crystal Handbook: All The Crystals You Will Ever Need For Health, Healing, & Happiness by Simon and Sue Lilly.



Magic: helps with conflict resolution and gives positive outcomes to situations. It leaves you will emotional harmony after stressful times.

Healing: helps reduce inflammation, releases emotional frustration and tension, and brain function.


Magic: Used a lot in magic for its cleansing and purifying purposes. One of the best ways to cleanse yourself of negative energy is too hold a quartz and visualize it absorbing negative energy (often visualized as a dark cloud of murky green or blue). Then the crystal is usually buried in the ground to let nature cleanse the negative energy out of it so it can be used again. It is also used in divination work of all types. There are even clear quartz balls which are used in scrying.

Healing: Helps strengthen and empower the aura, Releases mental and emotional blockages, Increases mental faculties, good for bring peace to meditation and visualization.

Cleansing & Healing

In Wicca there is a lot of focus on cleansing away negative energy. If you ever feel yourself becoming bogged down with thoughts and problems of the past or the future, it is time to break out this spell/meditation to do. Healing, to me at least, in inseparable from cleansing. If you are cleansing yourself of unnecessary problems and energies then you are also helping heal yourself. The best way I can describe it is you have wounds on your heart and soul. You cleanse your wounds with water and alcohol which helps it heal because you are keeping it from getting infected. How many times you would like to cleanse and heal yourself depends on you. Some people may want to do a short meditation and visualization every day to get rid of stress. Some may want to do this every week or ever month. No matter how much or how little you do this, it can only help.

If it is nice outside then go for a walk or drive to a place where this is water. If it is rainy use the energy of the rainy day for the spell. If you live in an area with a more dry climate and don’t have access to any nature made form of water, then just pour some water into a bowl or use a picture of water with which to meditate.

If you wish you can make yourself some tea to sip during this time of yours:

Cleansing Tea

1/2 cup Green Tea Leaves

1/4 cup Jasmine Flowers

1/4 Mint or Spearmint Leaves

(Depending on the potency you want you can use dried or fresh. Dried will give a more subtle tea while fresh with give a big punch of flavor.)

Now for the spell


  • Bowl of water (even if you are going outside)
  • A Piece of Paper which can fit into the bowl
  • A permanent marker (preferably a bright happy color: pink, yellow, light green, light blue)
  • A pen or pencil
  • A bottle of food coloring (I chose dark blue for the color)
  • Small bowl for food coloring

Take your supplies to a quiet comfortable place where you can sit for a long time. If you have access to a bath tub where you can relax that is a fantastic place to do this spell. Take you bowl of water and set it down in front of you.

May the power of water be me in all I do

No the matter the storms that pass through

May it cleanse me

and heal me

with its purity

Then take a moment to think about all the negative emotions you have been feeling lately. Are you stressed out about work you have to get done? Is there something from your past which you are trying to let go? Do you hold feelings of regret? Focus in on each stressor in your life. Now take the food coloring and put it into the small bowl. Take the pen or pencil and dip it into the food coloring. Lightly to draw and write down each stressor you have. You can also write down general words which describe how you feel. Note: I say lightly because you want only the food coloring on the paper and not ink or lead. Then take the permanent marker and write down how you want to feel or something you need which is missing. Do you need freedom? Do you need love? Do you need friendship? Security? Much of the time what we feel is negative reflects something missing in our life. Now take the paper and put it in the bowl of water. Watch as the negative words start to fade away and the positive word stay in place. Often we feel as if our problems are permanent and can not possibly be overcome but they too shall pass. This is the way of the world that the positive energy stays with us and the negative fades. We heal our wounds and though the scars still remain, they are only a dim recollection of the pain which was there before.

Note: You may need to rub the paper for the food coloring to come out but don’t worry; sometimes it takes a little rubbing and work to heal a wound and stop its inflammation.

Now say this chant:

Pain be gone.

Pain away.

I will not have

pain today.

Spirits surround me

with nature’s light.

Happiness in within sight.

Visualization & Meditation: 

Get yourself into a comfortable position. Now close your eyes and let your mind clear. Focus in on your breathing. Bring in for three counts and breath out for three. Imagine that the breath out is the negative energy leaving your body and that the breath in is the positive energy being brought into your body. Visualize a light surrounding you like a warm fuzzy blanket. This light will help shield you from future negative energies so you can move through difficulties more easily. You can stay in this state for as long as you wish but I would say a good half hour to an hour will allow you to reap the full benefits.
