At Last I See The Light!

Hello Everyone! The sun this morning was gorgeous on the trees and leaves. It was making everything sparkle after the rain. Don’t you just love that? I decided to snap a few pictures when I was taking Remus out to do his business. He is quite happy that there is no more rain and is now looking at me in judgment for not playing with him (am I a bad sister?). Anyway… The sun reminded me of the movie Tangled which I love so much and I decided to make a treasury about it today.

Hello Again Everyone!

I know you all have pretty much forgot about me! But I’m one of those crazy poet types always posting their poetry. I have been so so so insanely busy this past school year! I have officially declared my Creative Writing concentration in my English major at school.

I have also been busy with my wonderful boyfriend Skye. He’s a sweetheart. I love him dearly.

Music Monday: Aimee Mann- Pavlov’s Bell

I very much like this artist! She has a very unique voice and the lyrics to her songs are very interesting. I have also come to love the electric guitar featured in her songs. It adds such a powerful sound to the music. She was featured of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in one particular episode and her songs can be heard in others. Obviously Joss Whedon is a fan. Anyhow,….enjoy.

Hey everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t been posting but that is because I got really busy with a con I went to over the weekend. It was my first con and it was pretty good. This was developed by Joss Whedon and stars actors Nathan Fillion, Neil Patrick Harris, and Felicia Day. It is definitely worth the short amount of time it takes to watch the whole thing on youtube. Swim Suit Searching

 

I went to the mall today with my mom in search for a bikini since I don’t have one and don’t have any bathing suits which I think would fit me. Went into Macy’s and found one. Then I shopped around and found more awesome stuff. I am quite happy with all my purchases. I have also been try to get through the Matt Smith seasons of Doctor Who. I just finished season 5 and it was so very very good! Are any of you Whovians?

This is what I wore today. I love red and black combination because it combines cool with warm in my mind.

 

Bikini I got a Macy’s. It totaled around $40.

Got these at Delia’s. Each tank-top was around $5 and the shirt was around $15.

Exploding Tardis Mug from Newbury Comics. It was around $11.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar tote bag is also from Newbury Comics. I got it for around $19. Very happy with this because I can see me using it as a future elementary school teacher.

 

 

 

 

Oz the Great and Powerful

This movie was amazing! The plot was solid and the action was exciting. The imagery and setting was astoundingly beautiful. I wish I could have seen it when it was still in theaters because it must have been an awesome spectacle! My favorite character by far was the China Girl  (she is made of porcelain) because she is so fragile, gentle, kind, but also feisty and wants to be seen as useful and strong despite this. I can really connect with that. I also loved the music which makes sense because the music was made by the brilliant Danny Elfman who did the music for Big Fish and The Nightmare Before Christmas. He often works with Tim Burton who as I might have told you I am very fond of as well.

Music Monday: Amber by 311

I know I usually feature artists I like completely and know more about but I only know this one song by this artist. I like this song for the summer days when its warm or hot (rainy or not). It just has that tropical sound to it which is nice for the season. Enjoy.

This song was featured in the movies 50 First Dates and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Both are very good movies and especially for the summer since both are set in tropical locations. The first movie is  a romantic comedy about a guy named Henry Roth, Adam Sandler, who falls for a woman named Lucy, Drew Barrymore, who has memory loss after a car accident. He has to make her fall in love with him everyday and learns to work with this unique relationship. The second movie is about a guy named Peter, Jason Segel, who takes a trip to Hawaii to get over his ex only to find she is there with her new rebound boyfriend. Peter eventually meets Rachel, Mila Kunis, and slowly but surely falls in love with her.

 

Mirror Neurons & TV

I have a had a minor epiphany of why we enjoy TV so much. I’m not one to get really get technical and scientific but I do enjoy learning about science and especially how the brain works. Interesting enough the brain has mirror neurons which are responsible for empathy and for being able to place yourself in someone else’s shoes. When we watch something on TV, I think these neurons are stimulated and we experience, in our head at least, what we are watching. This is probably why TV is so popular and can be so addicting for a lot of people.
